What advisors asked for

Wallace Understudy is a digital twin unique to each financial advisory firm: a living playbook that captures how an advisor actually runs the practice, validated against what they really do, and used for training, continuity, and succession. Client files are read on the advisor's own device and only de-identified patterns leave it. Every rule traces back to something the advisor confirmed, and the twin says "not covered" rather than invent an answer.

Wallace Finance Co's flagship system is the Wallace Terminal, a plain-English portfolio management platform for advisors that covers direct indexing, tax-loss harvesting, custom SMAs, research, and client-ready reports, connected to the firm's custodian. The two products are standalone. Understudy does not require the Terminal, a Wallace Finance account, or a custodian connection, and it is designed to work with the Terminal for firms that choose to run both.

The company

Wallace Finance Co. is based in Chicago, Illinois, doing business as Wallace. It is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser. Registration does not imply a certain level of skill or training, and it does not mean the SEC or any other government agency has approved, reviewed, or endorsed Wallace Understudy. Understudy is not investment advice, not legal advice, and not a compliance, supervision, or surveillance system; it documents and validates how closely a practice follows its own stated process.

How we think about your data

The most important design decision in Understudy is that we never receive protected client information. Client data is analyzed in the advisor's browser; meeting transcripts are pseudonymized on the advisor's computer; nothing an advisor gives us is used to train any AI model, in any form.
